Open-cIS Customer Care Solution Goes Into Production At Washington Gas

Open-c Solutions, a premier provider of billing and customer care solutions, announced that Washington Gas has successfully completed conversion to Open-cIS. This platform delivers billing services to retail customers participating in Washington Gas’s deregulated marketplace seamlessly integrating the utility’s and the participating supplier’s charges. This effort completes the migration from a third-party service provider to an in-house implemented solution supported and operated by Washington Gas.  Washington Gas is a subsidiary of WGL Holdings, Inc. (WGL)

The Open-cIS customer care solution allows Washington Gas to support effectively the expansion of the deregulated marketplace by providing end-use customers and suppliers with flexible, consolidated billing options.  Using the Open-cIS solution, Washington Gas can rapidly respond to changing market requirements and support the business practices of several retail suppliers on a single platform.

“Ensuring that Washington Gas, retail customers and suppliers are able to rely on the CIS for accurate and timely billing and reliable financial accounting is fundamental to the success of deregulation,” said Jim White, Vice President of Consumer Services for Washington Gas. “In reviewing our options, we determined that the best solution to meet these goals was provided by Open-cIS. That decision has allowed us to meet and exceed the requirements of our customers, suppliers and regulators while keeping our cost structure at a level to further encourage and open the competitive marketplace.”

“We are very enthusiastic about the success of the Washington Gas implementation,” said Doug Thompson, Chairman and CEO of Open-c Solutions, Inc. “Our ability to use the same solution to address both regulated and deregulated operating requirements underscores the flexibility of Open-cIS. The market has been watching closely, and we are very proud of our performance and our close partnership with Washington Gas.”

“We are pleased to have assisted in the Open-cIS project at Washington Gas. Experience in working with the flexible configurability of this new generation of CIS will truly enhance our ability to meet our clients’ needs,” said Vince Phelps CEO for Energy Solutions Plus, who assisted in the integration and system configuration.
